1 out of 5 stars BORING!   December 2, 2008
Don't bother with this book - and I've read other Randy Alcorn books that I've liked. This book is 500 pages and could have been 100 - it is extremely redundant. Much of the content is either speculative or insignificant - i.e., Will We Tell Stories in Heaven or How Will Humans and Animals Relate in Heaven? It's not worth your time or money.

5 out of 5 stars Comfort after my husband's death   November 29, 2008

"Heaven" by Randy Alcorn has changed my life. My husband died a year ago and although we are both Christians, I wondered about just where he was and how we would be reunited one day. This book has given me a lot of comfort and happiness by learning more about the heaven God will have for us, right here on this earth! Churches are not teaching much about heaven but the book fills in that void. It is based on sound Biblical teaching and is so interesting as well as informative. Now I have a real vision of what eternal life is like, and how wonderful it is. Praise God for all His goodness.

5 out of 5 stars Uplifting, Wonderful, Heavenly Book! Highly Recommend   November 26, 2008

After reading Heaven, you will see the Bible in a whole new and exciting light. This is a wonderful book that is very encouraging. Of course, you will not agree with everything. But it is so uplifting and life changing that you are left wondering how you missed these awesome truths in your previous Bible studies. This is a great book to give to someone who has just lost a loved one who was a believer. It is a great book for unbelievers because the Gospel is so clearly presented. It even contains a very sober and important treatise on the doctrine of Hell. Mr. Alcorn has taken great pains to present clear scriptural references for many of his main points. Countless times, I found myself saying "I never saw that before!" There is so much more in the Bible concerning our life in Heaven that most people would ever expect. This is a great book to use as a Sunday evening or mid-week Bible study tool. It will make you want to share your faith even more. Get this book. You won't regret it.

1 out of 5 stars Amen to "Broad Speculation; Shallow and Muddled Doctrine"   November 8, 2008

Read the review by Encompassed Runner (May 3, 2006)
He submits a very accurate description.

The fact that there are so many multi-star reviews of this product is an indicator (there are others of course) that Biblical illiteracy has possibly reached pandemic levels in the Evangelical community.

This book = quasi-scholarship.

It is the theological equivalent of a Hollywood "Feel-Good" flick.

If one is going to write on a Biblically based theme, it should be done with accuracy...or not at all.

The author has probably made beaucoup bucks off this thing...was this his primary motive for its creation ?

Let's all hope this writer doesn't write a follow-up volume on Hell...with more inaccuracies & speculation.

5 out of 5 stars Heaven   November 7, 2008

This book heaven by Randy Alcorn is really an exhaustive research project on all biblical references to heaven. The author does a good job of pointing out the false thoughts and statements about heaven that permeate society, some of which have been around for a long time. He also paints heaven in such a great way, helping the reader to realize what an amazingly beautiful and wonderful place it will be. He also teaches how our life here on earth (for those who put their trust in Christ) is preparation for our eternity in heaven. Reading this book really helps the Christ follower get excited for eternity. It also may help those who have not yet put their faith in Christ, to learn more about that, so that they too will be able to spend their eternity in the unbelievably wonderful heaven God is creating.Heaven
